March 1 - The district tournament got underway Monday, March 1 with Black River jumping to an early lead and never looking back, forcing Norwayne into 30 turnovers and cruising to a 71-46 victory. The game that followed was much closer and hotly contested down to the last few possessions. Northwestern trailed by as much as 7 (40-33) but went on a 20-1 run to start the 4th quarter to grab a 53-41 lead and endure a few desperation 3's by Tuslaw, hanging on for the 54-49 win.

March 2 - After a slow 1st quarter that saw Columbua on top of Hillsdale 12-8, the tables wer turned. The pace picked up; and once Hillsdale got their first lead (16-14) with just over 6 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, it was all Falcons from there, beating up Columbia to a 73-44 final. The following game was not as close early but had a smaller final margin. Triway jumped out of the gate quickly, starting the game up 13-0 over Chippewa and up 21-14 after 1. Triway would score 20 or more points in 3 of the 4 quarters to get the victory, 74-57.

March 3 - There was no doubt who was going to take the first game Wednesday. The Smithville Smithies pounded Oberlin inside and out all game long en route to a 72-36 win. However, the nightcap was the most exciting game of the tournament, to date, between #5 Wellington and #7 Loudonville. Wellington took the early lead before Loudonville got into a rhythm to be ahead at halftime. The 2nd half was back and forth (13-12 3rd quarter, 16-16 4th quarter), and Loudonville held on to grab the tight win, 49-45.

March 5 - Orrville did not leave any doubt against Black River on Friday night, quickly disposing of the Pirates by leading 38-29 at half and 62-33 after 3, cruising to a 74-45 victory. The nightcap proved to be the opposite, though, as Northwestern took Hillsdale into overtime, only to lose to them for the 3rd time this season, 54-49.

March 6 - Triway jumped out quickly to take a big lead over Waynedale only to slow down and let the Golden Bears back within 3 points. However, it was all Triway from there, getting the win, 65-43. The Smithville Smithies had a game on their hands for about three quarters as Loudonville hung tough and kept within striking distance, but the Green Machine extended their lead late and won 63-42.

March 8 - The first district semifinal between Orrville and Hillsdale was a packed, high-energy game that saw spurts and momentum swings for both teams. In the end, a 2nd half lockdown effort by Orrville helped them outscore the Falcons 33-14 in the 2nd half, and moving onto the district championship with a 61-48 victory.

The DIII Wooster district has accepted a few new teams for at least the next two seasons - Black River, Columbia, Oberlin, Orrville, and Wellington. This now gives the district 14 Teams after losing a few teams, as well. Divisional Breakdown:

Three years ago when I began this site, its initial purpose was to provide DII Canton District teams' schedules and results for the coaches whose teams participate in the district tournament. The information was primarily compiled to assist in the research and preparation for seed votings. This is still the primary purpose, but as well as to provide accurate information for a variety of teams and leagues and to a wider audience. I have since expanded to include the DIII Wooster district, its teams, and those teams' leagues.

Because I am expanding the web site and providing more information, I will depend greatly on viewer contributions more than ever. Scores, corrections, and feedback are not only necessary but highly encouraged and very much appreciated! Thank you in advance, and have a great season!
